The Events - Typhoon Series
Since 1985
The annual Typhoon Series is one of the largest and most prominent keel boat events in Hong Kong attracting more than 70 yachts each year. This event also attracts a significant number of entrants from all Yacht Clubs in Hong Kong.
The Typhoon Series is a catagory C event which permits unlimited sponsor advertising on boats. Most events in Hong Kong are Category A which prevents sails to be made reflecting a sponsors logo or name.
To ensure maxium coverage for sponsors, the Racing Rules & Regulations will also allow the following:
- Notice of Race & Sailing Instructions can reflect sponsors advertising.
- Display of advertising in the form of a flag and / or of a decal or sticker attached to each side of the boats hulls.
- Buoy covers for start / finish marks and rounding marks.
- Advertising may be displayed on clothing and equipment onshore.
- Sponsors flags / banners to be displayed around club premises.
- Advertising on clothing which can be given away to competitors.
Typhoon Series 2007
- Comprises of 10 races and a pursuit race on the following dates:
- Race 1 - Sunday, 27 May 2007
- Race 2 & 3 - Sunday, 10 June 2007
- Race 4 - Sunday, 24 June 2007
- Race 5 & 6 - Sunday, 8 July 2007
- Race 7 - Sunday, 22 July 2007
- Race 8 - Saturday, 4 August 2007
- Race 9 - Sunday, 5 August 2007
- Race 10 - Saturday, 18 August 2007
- Participants from the Sailing Community all over Hong Kong include:
- Hebe Haven Yacht Club
- Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club
- Aberdeen Boat Club
- Up to 70 yachts crossing the start line
