Course Rate: Members HK$4000, Non Members HK$4500

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Age: 18 or above Structure: 5 full days course, runs approximately 10:00am - 6:00pm This five-day course introduces participants to cruiser sailing by daylight in local waters. No prior knowledge or sailing experience is necessary. Dinghy experience will be of benefit, but is not essential. At the end of the course participants will have developed the practical skills necessary to sail on sailing yachts of all sizes. Participants will gain hands-on experience of:

• Nautical jargon
  
• Basic sailing - helming the boat safely on different points of sail
  
• Handling the boat under power
  
• Handling lines, sheets, halyards and associated deck gear
  
• Sailing knots
  
• Bending on, setting, reefing and handling of sails
  
• Operation of outboard and diesel engines
  
• Safety on board
  
• Using emergency equipment
  
• Getting assistance in an emergency situation
  
• Rules of the Road
  
• Deck work when mooring or docking
  
• Weather assessment

Additional individual days after the 5 days training can be booked for $800 per person/day (non-members $900).
