HHYC Youth Race TrainingHebe DragonsRacing is fun, that will improve your sailing skills and also give you a chance to make new friends! You can learn more about sailing in one weekend of racing, than a month of cruising. We have great fellowship and team bonding after all races, where we sit down and talk about what did or did not work out and how we can improve ourselves for the next time out on the water. The Hebe Haven Racing program is about creating opportunities for racing experiences, for competitive sailors at all levels, with high level coaching, best suited to your individual sailing needs and racing goals within the sport. Teamwork and sportsmanship is stressed in a supportive environment. The program is customised for sailors keen about racing Lasers (Radial and 4.7) and Optimist. The program is designed to provide comprehensive and intensive training, and practice racing format, coupled with local regattas in Port Shelter, as well as travelling to national and regional events. Who can join? Admittance to the Racing Program is by application and with the permission of the Head Racing Coach and STC Manager, based on skills, experience and interest. If you are a sailor aged between 7-18 years old who know how to sail in close quarters with other boats and is looking for a challenge, come and join the Hebe Dragons! The Green Fleet Squad is also the main pathway to the Hebe Dragons Team as this is where most of our regular Youth sailors will develop & be trained in competition sailing before they are progressed to the Hebe Dragons. Green Fleet The Green Fleet is our clubs introduction to racing program that take our youth sailors who re interested in competitive sailing & show potential to get their racing skills fine-tuned in preparation for future regattas at our club & in Hong Kong. The Green Fleet has developed really well with the HKODA in recent months and we support the club Youth sailors who will take their first competitive steps in the sport. Building on the Green Fleet concept that has been a feature of Hong Kong Race Week over the years, the HKODA is pleased to announce the extension of this success story to all its ranking regattas. Through the support of sponsors and the Race Week Green Team, HKODA will bring the necessary resources to each ranking regatta to enable a Green Fleet experience to be run alongside the main fleet. Following the successful formula develped at Race Week, the Green Fleet experience will comprise a lecture, a practice race, racing and a debrief, repeated over two days. The aim is to introduce new sailors to racing, build their confidence and integrate them into the regatta scene. It is hoped that coaches and clubs will use the extended Green Fleet program to bridge the gap between their learn-to-sail schemes and the racing squads, giving sailors a target to aim for. Parents are welcome to get involved, no sailing experience necessary ! Blue Fleet
