Operations & Facilities Manager

Job Summary

Manage the Operational facilities and ensure that optimum service is provided to all club members according to the Club’s business objectives. To run all Club facilities in an efficient and effective manner.  Perform managerial duties of the Club’s operational facilities including marine operation, maintenance activities, security and the car park. Develop short-term and long-term planning for facilities maintenance and replacement, efficient utilisation of space and resources, environmental initiatives etc. Act as Duty Manager to handle the Club’s emergency cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare & monitor annual budgets, capital works programmes & operating budgets for future improvements while ensuring that expenses are maintained within budget.

• Prepare monthly reports, budget status, project progress updates, incident reports and management reports to General Manager and General Committee members in a timely manner

• Manage the Club’s license applications and renewals.

• Formulate plans and establish work schedules for the department to ensure the maximum utilisation of manpower.

• Monitor the boatyard operations; prepare schedule for lifting and maintenance of boats, sampan services, operating crane (electro-hydraulic yacht-crane, hydraulic truck crane), forklifting work, moorings and boat rack services.

• Ensure regular maintenance of club facilities and buildings, club vehicles & vessels are carried out properly. Act as the main coordinator and the lead for emergency repairs.

• Responsible for regular inspection checks to make sure that the facilities in the Club are in good working order.

• Manage the security team operations to provide protection and security services for all members, staff, and visitors. Monitor the daily parking operations and ensure all car and motorcycle entry are permitted. 

• Organise and set access control systems. Ensure security check has been carried out across all areas of the club. Guide and monitor the Dockmaster policing the pontoon usage.

• Coordinate projects and works activities with other departments, project managers and contractors as needed.      

• Act as the main coordinator, gather and follow up the requests from members for lifting and boat repairs, act as the contact point with on-site contractors for boat repairs. Coordinate deliveries and shipments of parts and plant when deemed necessary.

• Act as the coordinator and the lead of the Emergency Responses Team to enforce health and safety measures in and around the Club

• Develop job descriptions, guidelines for standards and tasks; as well as orientation procedures for staff reporting to functional departments.

• Conduct performance appraisal, training programmes, and handle disciplinary actions for staff development and human capital management

• Conduct daily & monthly meetings within the team and work closely with the senior management team, act as a bridge to enhance communication.

• Attend operations and Club development meetings. Work closely with the Sub-Committees to improve the Club’s facilities.

• Assist in handling the members’ comments, suggestions or complaints by developing a pleasant, friendly atmosphere for members. As the need arises, explain Club rules to members and ensure they follow the rules of the Club

• Perform ad-hoc duties and projects as assigned by the General Manager.




• Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in operating an international standards of marina / yacht club facilities, and 5 years of which at managerial level

• Experience in dealing directly with property or yacht club owners

• Well experienced in handling yacht club members request for service delivery

• Extensive experience in managing teams with over 20 staff



• University graduate in Engineering, Business Management, Hospitality Management or related disciplines

• Professional qualification in Marina Management e.g. Training in the Royal Yachting Association


Required Skills

• Excellent communication skills, presentation and reporting skills

• Strong leadership skills in managing expectation from teams, members, business associates and government officials

• Knowledge in maintaining electric & diesel boat engines and boatbuilding projects

• Strong analytical and problem solving skills at both strategic and functional level

• Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities

• Ability to manage complex relationships

     • Good command of spoken and written English, ability to communicate in Chinese is preferable
