Constitution

The General Committee consists of the Officers and eight additional Life, Full, or Senior Associate Members, elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Each Committee Member serves as a director of the Club according to the Ordinance. The eight non-Officer Committee Members are divided into two groups of four: “A” members, elected at the first AGM in even years, and “B” members, elected at the first AGM in odd years.

Chaired by the Commodore, this Committee determines the Club’s general policies, oversees its finances, and guides management in alignment with members’ expectations. Six Committee Members are appointed as Officers, each responsible for leading specific Club committees or advising on legal and financial matters.

Period of Office

• Elected Committee Members:
  • Assume office at the AGM of their election and serve until the first AGM in the second calendar year following their election.
• Appointed Committee Members:
  • Take office immediately upon appointment and serve until the next AGM.
• Re-election:
  • Retiring Committee Members are eligible for re-election or re-appointment.

Responsibilities of the General Committee

Powers:

• • The Committee has the authority to fulfill the Club’s objectives and exercise powers not reserved for the General Meeting.Management:
  • Responsible for the Club’s general affairs and management, including drafting, amending, or altering Bye-Laws. Any changes must be:
    • Approved by at least two-thirds of present Committee Members.
    • Posted on the Club notice board and website for one week before taking effect.
    • In compliance with the Articles.

  Amendments:

• • Bye-Laws may be amended or rescinded by a General Meeting.
