The Countess Cup was held in honour of one of our past Commodores, Philip Boothroyd, after he passed away. The race was named after his beloved boat ‘Countess of Cathay’ and ran for two years.

In addition to our usual club racing we also hold special events to encourage crew members and ladies to step up and helm instead of the boat owners or normal helm. The ladies helm event has now been amalgamated into the Steering the Course Women’s festival for the last few years.

For even more challenge we have also run single and double handed races in the past, although these seem to have lost popularity recently, people preferring to sail as part of a team.
