HEBE DRAGONS

Hebe Haven is the home of the Hebe Dragons Racing Teams.

The sport of sailing at the Hebe Haven Yacht Club Sailing Centre is an exhilarating journey that welcomes everyone, from children to adults, to explore the diverse world of dinghy and keelboat sailing. Our programs are designed to help participants progress according to their abilities and interests, whether they’re beginners or seasoned sailors.

The Hebe Dragons, our competitive sailing team, have made remarkable strides on both national and international stages, with several of our sailors proudly representing Hong Kong at the Olympics. Our success in these prestigious events highlights the strength of our racing program and the dedication of our athletes.

Racing is not just thrilling; it significantly enhances your sailing skills while providing an excellent opportunity to forge new friendships. You can learn more about sailing in a single weekend of racing than in a month of cruising. After each race, we gather for fellowship and team bonding, reflecting on what worked, what didn’t, and how we can improve for our next outing on the water.

The Hebe Haven Racing Program focuses on creating opportunities for competitive sailors at all levels, offering high-level coaching tailored to your individual needs and racing goals. Teamwork and sportsmanship are emphasized in a supportive atmosphere, making it ideal for those passionate about racing Lasers (Radial and 4.7) and Optimists.

Our program provides comprehensive and intensive training, incorporating practice racing formats and participation in local regattas in Port Shelter, as well as trips to national and regional events.

The Green Fleet Squad serves as the primary pathway to the Hebe Dragons Team, where many of our regular youth sailors develop and hone their competitive sailing skills before progressing to the elite team.

Join us at the Hebe Haven Yacht Club Sailing Centre and experience the excitement of racing, the camaraderie of fellow sailors, and the chance to be part of a winning tradition!

GREEN FLEET

The Green Fleet is our clubs introduction to racing program that take our youth sailors who are interested in competitive sailing & show potential to get their racing skills fine-tuned in preparation for future regattas at our club & in Hong Kong.

The Green Fleet has developed really well with the HKODA in recent months and we support the Club Youth Sailors who will take their first competitive steps in the sport.

The aim is to introduce new sailors to racing,  build their confidence and integrate them into the regatta scene.

It is hoped that coaches and clubs will use the extended Green Fleet program to bridge the gap between their learn-to-sail schemes and the racing squads,  giving sailors a target to aim for.

Quarterly youth fleet trials are scheduled for the Optimist sailors to get a club ranking & see how they are progressing with the rest of the squad sailors.

INTERMEDIATE FLEET

Developing sailors from the Green Fleet showing commitments in trainings, continue improvements and potential to race in upcoming ranking regattas could be advanced to the Intermediate Fleet, through quarterly assessments and by coach recommendation.

MAIN FLEET

The Main fleet sailors are Hebe Dragon’s main racing fleet who compete against Hong Kong’s best sailors. Main fleet sailors have enjoyed great success over the past few years, including winning the Hong Kong Optimist yearly ranking and placing competitively in the Asian and World Championships.
